I’ve recently upgraded, from a Sharp 51cm, CRT TV (with mono sound), to a Panasonic 46″, full HD, plasma TV. HUGE upgrade, & I’m loving it!! Because of such an upgrade, it’s all still new, & crazy. Wow. Just, wow.
My Apple TV, is connected, & filled with all sorts, of viewing goodies. I’ve been stocking up, & converting (a work in progress), files, in preparation. Christened, the TV, with Transformers, as the first movie. Amazing! No, I hadn’t seen it before. There’s also been some Futurama, & plenty of Quicktime trailers. Right now, I’m watching Wrestlemania 25. OMFG I LOVE WWE, & similar (WCE, etc), wrestling!!! Thanks to a workmate (who downloaded a ton, for me, from his college network), I’ve spent the last 24 – 36 hrs, catching up. Been a long time, for me, since I had payTV/Foxtel, & watched wrestling. I miss it so much, inc. all the pay per view events. Stay tuned, to see if I change that, & finally get me some Foxtel action. Ohhh, man, THAT would be the ultimate!! [insert Homer drooling noises, here]
Another treat, was playing my Wii, on the new TV. Bought a component cable, to enhance the experience. Again, amazing! Didn’t know the Wii graphics, could look so good lol Have yet, to hook up my other consoles. All in good time. Would like to add a PS3, to this ensemble, to experience the breathtaking graphics, gameplay, & Blu-Ray. Soon, hopefully.
The CRT TV, remains, as a gaming TV, solely. This sounds bizarre, I know, but there is a good reason, for keeping it. A month ago, I bought a NES Action Pack, from eBay. The ‘Action Pack’, contains the ‘Zapper gun’ (used for the game Duck Hunt), & through a friend’s research (who’d dug up his girlfriend’s NES, & fired it up, just for Duck Hunt), have discovered that the Zapper needs a ‘tube TV’ (CRT), to work. Something about needing the tube, to reflect light, to register. So, Sharpy stays, as part of my retro gaming collection. Works beautifully, too. Never had a problem, with it, in all the years I’ve had it <3
It would also, be wicked, to be able to play World of Warcraft, on the new TV. Of course, playing on my 24" iMac, is super cool, but playing on a 46" screen would be mad! My MacBook Air would have been ok, for this purpose, if I owned the latest model, with Nvidia graphics. I'm thinking a new Mac mini (higher spec-ed model), would be perfect. Adding another Mac, to the family, is always welcome ^_^
